In the following statement the Walking Club of Victoria is referred to as WCV. This privacy statement describes how the WCV collects information about its members and visitors ("temporary members") as well as those on its mailing list (collectively referred to below as “Members”), how we use the personal information and to whom it is disclosed.
What personal information do we collect?
The WCV collects personal information about Members which may include:
· Name and address
· Date joined the club
· Date of birth
· Phone number (s) and email address
· Emergency contact name and phone number
· Current first aid certificate
How do we collect personal information?
Information is generally collected from Members by way of membership applications, renewal forms, walk lists and Liability Waiver forms.
What do we use the personal information for?
Information is used to:
· Maintain the membership register as required by the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012
· Communicate with Members
· Ensure a safe walking environment through the use of emergency contacts
· Complete Bushwalking Australia’s annual insurance questionnaire
To whom do we disclose personal information?
As required, personal information is provided to members of the Committee who provide club services.
Names and phone numbers for walk leaders and committee members, as well as other office bearers, are included in the Club Program which is distributed to Members and to members of the public who enquire about the club.
Members representing the club at other organisations may have their contact details provided to those organisations.
We do not provide our membership list to any external organisation or external individual.
How do members notify us of corrections to personal information?
Members can use the membership renewal form to advise of changes to their personal information or can contact the Membership Secretary.
Member photos
Members may take photos during club activities; these may appear for public viewing on the club’s website, be electronically shared amongst Members, and used for other Club promotional purposes.
