For the annual photo competition we invite you to submit photos taken during the previous 12 months on WCV activities and events, including travel to and from them. The closing date is usually 2 weeks before the February club night. The photos are judged by an experienced photographer appointed by the committee, with results announced at the February club night meeting.
Prizes for each category: $30 first place, $20 second place.
Photos may be taken on phone, tablet or camera, should be submitted in digital form before the closing date, and are limited to not more than 4 entries per participant for each category. Please state the location where the photo was taken when submitting your entries. The categories are:
- Close-up
- People
- Landscape (scenery); people can be included but they cannot be the focus of the image
You, the photographer, must identify the category of each photo you submit. You cannot enter the same image in more than one category. The photo will be judged according to the category you choose and the following matters will be considered by the judge: technical merit, composition, overall visual appeal. The decision of the judge is final. The judge is not permitted to submit any entries, and all entries will be anonymous to the judge.
All images will be displayed at the club night in February, and on an accessible website at least one week prior to the February club night. The winning images may also be displayed in club communications systems, club website and Contour Lines.
Members’ Popular Choice award: In addition to the above all members will have the right to view all entries and choose two photos (per member) as their favourites. The photo with the highest number of votes wins this category.
